Eleven students in ֱ’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program were awarded scholarships totaling more than $16,000 from the Savannah American Business Club (AMBUCS) for volunteer work with the organization.
ֱ Multimedia Development Center receives three professional Emmy® nominations
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Chapter has recognized ֱ’s Multimedia Development Center (MDC) with three professional Emmy® nominations.
“ֱ Robots” and “The Eagle has Landed” both received a nomination in the Spanish language category. MDC Director Art Berger, Brianna Womack, Collin Crews, Ben Powell and Doug Thompson were nominated for the two short news features. Berger was also nominated for best director in the short form content category.

Police officer to middle grades teacher: A graduate helps children from the ground up
Statesboro born-and-raised, Jason Long is a name that locals might recognize from his 23 years of experience in local law enforcement.
After a full career with the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Department Long enrolled at ֱ to earn a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education.
This fall, he will start a position as a social studies teacher at Southeast Bulloch Middle School where he hopes to positively impact the lives of students.

ֱ has invited six distinguished Georgians to serve as speakers for the Spring 2021 Commencement ceremonies on May 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13.
The University will hold six commencement ceremonies for a mix of undergraduate and graduate students from each of the University’s 10 colleges. The commencement ceremonies on May 8 will be held at the Savannah Convention Center at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for undergraduates and graduates from each of the University’s three campuses who prefer to attend a ceremony in Savannah. The remaining four ceremonies will take place at Allen E. Paulson Stadium on the Statesboro Campus on May 10, 11, 12 and 13 at 9 a.m.
