Communication Arts welcomes back alumni for “50+1” anniversary celebration

ֱ alumni and students gathered in Sanford Hall for a reunion like no other. Some alumni came back to a “new” building and a freshly posted mural, making this 50+1 anniversary a celebration to remember.

‘All Things at Once’ visiting artist exhibition opens on Statesboro Campus

“All Things at Once,” a visiting artist exhibition by Dan Funderburgh is on view at ֱ’s Center for Art and Theatre on the Statesboro Campus. The exhibition will run through Dec. 6. There will be an artist talk on Nov. 12 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Arts Building followed by a reception in the Center for Art and Theatre’s University Gallery from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

President Kyle Marrero conferred as 14th president of ֱ

On Oct. 25, ֱ held an investiture ceremony in Hanner Fieldhouse on the Statesboro Campus to officially confer the duties and responsibilities of the Office of the President to Dr. Kyle Marrero, who became ֱ’s 14th president on April 1.

ֱ celebrates community with A Day for Statesboro on Nov. 1

On Nov. 1, ֱ will once again host A Day for Statesboro to celebrate the relationship between ֱ and the Statesboro-Bulloch County community.
A Day for Statesboro is hosted by ֱ in partnership with the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority (DSDA) and allows the University to show its love for the community with live music, True Blue spirit, family activities and more. The festivities will kick off in downtown Statesboro at 5:30 p.m.

Statesboro Campus Holiday Helper Tree back for 26th year of community giving

ֱ senior, Emilee Saigh, has participated in the Holiday Helper Tree on the Statesboro Campus since she was a freshman. Saigh has used the Holiday Helper Tree to continue a tradition of giving that was instilled in her during childhood.

Savannah Wind Symphony presents its fall concert with world premiere

The Savannah Wind Symphony will host its fall concert in ֱ’s Armstrong Campus Fine Arts Auditorium with the world premiere of “Pentangle,” a concerto grosso for brass quintet and concert band by composer Philip Sparke, on Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Las Vegas-based performers bring big top circus magic to ֱ Performing Arts Center Oct. 25

The 2019-2020 Main Stage Series at ֱ’s Performing Arts Center will heat up this Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m. with cirque-style acrobatics performed by Las Vegas-based troupe Cirque Mechanics.

ֱ to debut new program in School of Human Ecology in Fall 2020

With support from the College of Education, the ֱ School of Human Ecology will debut the Birth to Kindergarten Teacher Education Program, which will be housed on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah. The program is the only one of its kind in South Georgia, and classes will begin in the 2020 fall semester.

ֱ senior art exhibition on Armstrong Campus runs through Oct. 25, reception closing night

“Collective Illusions,” a senior art exhibition in ֱ’s Armstrong Campus Fine Arts Gallery that features the work of Kelsey Jacobs, Christina Davis and Samuel Colon, is currently on display and will run through Oct. 25. On closing night, there will be a reception from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with artist talks at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will serve food and refreshments.
