
ֱ Mechanical Engineering Professor Valentin Soloiu, Ph.D., and alumnus David Ortegon (‘23) were awarded an aircraft safety patent recognizing them as the creators of a aircraft safety system.

ֱ hosted its annual Gratitude Gala to recognize key donors for their longtime support of institutional initiatives.

Sevki Cesmeci, Ph.D., was recently honored with the EnergyTech University Prize Faculty Explorers Award from the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions. An associate professor of mechanical engineering in the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Computing at ֱ, Cesmeci was one of only 10 individuals across the United States to earn the award.

ֱ has chosen Avinandan (Avi) Mukherjee, Ph.D., as its next provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs. Mukherjee will assume the role on July 1.


Brent Feske, Ph.D., has been named associate vice president for Research in the Office of Research and Economic Development, effective March 1.


Students from ֱ’s College of Behavioral and Social Sciences’ psychology program have won nationally competitive travel awards for their research two years in a row. Heaven Divinity (’24) and Carmen Ford (’24) won the Council on Undergraduate Research’s (CUR) Social Science and Psychology Conference Travel Awards in 2025 and 2024, respectively.

A new exhibit, “Interconnected: A One Health Exploration,” from ֱ’s Institute for Health Logistics & Analytics (IHLA) opens at the ֱ Museum today, March 25, and runs through January 2026. The public is invited to join the opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight, with remarks at 5:30 p.m. by featured speaker Bruce Conn, Ph.D., from the One Health Center at Berry College.
