Astounding freshman class growth, retention, increases ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s fall enrollment by more than 3 percent
Official fall enrollment at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ rose by approximately 3.45% over 2019, thanks to a record-breaking class of first-year students. Also contributing is a post-consolidation record-high 79% retention rate from freshman to sophomore year.
ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s wildlife center to reopen Oct. 5
ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s famed Center for Wildlife Education Center and the Lamar Q Ball, Jr. Raptor Center will reopen Monday, Oct. 5, at 9 a.m.
Closed since the pandemic hit in March, workers have used the time to refurbish many areas of the center and finish a new observation deck at the waterfowl exhibit. Visitors will be able to enter the enclosure and view 125 ducks representing 16 species, the largest collection of waterfowl in Georgia.

From July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2020, students at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ logged 48,457 hours of community service, a 4.4% increase compared to last year. According to the Federal Agency for Service and Volunteering, the hours are equal to a $1,066,054 value.

On Sept. 24, Frank Katz, director of the Center for Applied Cyber Education at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥, will represent the University at Jack Voltaic 3.0, the first all-virtual cyber exercise hosted by the Army Cyber Institute. The exercise will simulate a cyber attack in Savannah, and Katz will observe the participants’ decisions during the attack to help better educate his cyber security students on what to do in similar scenarios.

The ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ bachelor’s degree programs in civil, electrical, manufacturing and mechanical engineering have been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.

Preliminary enrollment projections for the fall 2020 semester at ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ indicate a record-setting freshman class may be enrolled this year.
