The Southern Chorale, ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s premier choral ensemble, continues to reach new heights in international competitions. The group took third place in the CantaRode International Choral Festival in the Netherlands, which was held from May 29 through June 1. The prestigious festival featured 10 choirs from eight countries, including the U.S., Sweden, Slovenia and other European countries.

When Matt Fallin, DMA, arrived on the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ campus in 1982, he had no idea it was where he would spend the next half of his life. Then a young music student, Fallin would go on to lay the groundwork for the brand new, still unnamed, marching band and eventually create traditions that future members of Eagle Nation would come to cherish. As Fallin prepares for life after ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥, he vividly remembers every special moment he shared as he journeyed through student life and into the role of professor.

Georgia is in the midst of an opioid crisis. However, widespread implementation of public health interventions is creating a positive impact, with opioid overdose deaths declining sharply in the state since mid-2023. ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥â€™s Center for Addiction Recovery, housed in the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health (JPHCPH), continues to be involved in translational research, helping Georgia respond to this public health emergency.

Soon, the doors to the Sistine Chapel will be locked, signifying the beginning of the papal conclave – the secretive balloting process where the College of Cardinals, who are among the highest-ranking members of the church, elect a new pope.

ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ has named five acclaimed speakers for the University’s Spring 2025 Commencement ceremonies on May 13, 14, 15 and 17. Approximately 4,300 students will graduate this semester with associate, baccalaureate, master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees during five ceremonies in Statesboro and Savannah.
