To join the Center for Addiction Recovery (CAR) program, you must first be admitted to either ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ or East Georgia College. Here’s a breakdown of the process:
Part One: University Admission
ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥
- The Center for Addiction Recovery cannot grant admission exceptions. You must meet ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥’s minimum academic requirements for undergraduate or graduate programs.
- However, CAR staff can assist students with past legal issues related to addiction, provided they meet at least the minimum academic standards.
- Please see the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Admissions website for detailed information on the process for various admission types (transfer, freshman, graduate, etc.).

East Georgia College
If you don’t meet ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥’s admission criteria, consider applying to . East Georgia students frequently take classes on the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Campus and can fully participate in CAR programs, including those held on the ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ Campus.
Bobcat to Eagle (B2E) Program
Students can co-enroll at East Georgia State College and ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥, benefiting from lower tuition, access to ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ resources, and guaranteed credit transfer.
Eligibility: The B2E program requires acceptance to EGSC-Statesboro, enrollment in at least 4 EGSC credit hours, and an intention to transfer to ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥.
Part Two: Admission to the Center for Addiction Recovery
Contact the Center for Addiction Recovery to inform staff of your intention to apply to ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ or East Georgia and join the program. Before applying, make sure you meet the minimum requirements.
Minimum requirements for CAR Admission
- Admission to ÃÛÌÇÖ±²¥ or East Georgia College.
- In active recovery from alcohol or drug addiction with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder.
- Commitment to maintaining recovery
The Center for Addiction Recovery does not discriminate based on sex, race, gender, sexuality, religion or beliefs. Due to budgetary constraints, CAR only serves students whose primary diagnosis is substance use disorder. Students can simultaneously be in recovery from other addictive disorders.

Academic Expectations
CAR students must maintain a minimum institutional GPA of 2.5.
