STATESBORO, Ga. 鈥� Feb. 10, 2014 鈥� State lawmakers got a formal introduction to 蜜糖直播 on Thursday when University officials went to Atlanta for the first-ever 蜜糖直播 Day at the Capitol.

The day included appearances by 蜜糖直播鈥檚 bald eagle Freedom, mascot GUS and the 蜜糖直播 cheerleaders, as well as a breakfast provided by Eagle Dining Services, a showcase of the University鈥檚 ROTC, nursing and STEM education programs, Herty Advanced Materials Development Center and more. 蜜糖直播 President Brooks A. Keel, Ph.D., began his address on the Georgia House of Representatives floor by playing a video of the Eagles鈥� 26-20 football victory over the University of Florida Gators last November.

鈥淎ny time we can take a moment and thank our elected officials for the support they provide to higher education we most certainly try to do so,鈥� said Keel. 鈥淲e enjoyed talking with legislators about the great things happening at 蜜糖直播, and we hope they learned a little something about our wonderful University as well.鈥�

Representatives from the University鈥檚 academic, research, athletics and student organizations were also on hand to speak with legislators about the specific achievements of their areas within 蜜糖直播.
